Frio Cañon was created to be a place for family and friends to connect under the stars and canopies of cypress trees – a new tradition that evokes memories of family vacations and sleep away summer camps. Individual homes are complemented by a surrounding wilderness preserve and the scenic Texas Hill Country.
Homeowners enjoy an extensive trail system, a river park and the Red House, the original homestead that has been converted into an entertainment area. On-site activities include swimming, tubing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, skeet shooting, bird watching, cookouts, outdoor movie nights, and evenings spent around the community campfire. A full-time property management team offers concierge services and can arrange for horseback riding, hunting, golfing at the nearby ConCan Resort, Texas Hill Country tours, and private cooking classes. Staff is also on-hand to meet requests for make-ready services.
This community river park provides access to prime areas for swimming and kayaking on the Frio River. Situated beneath an ancient grove of Live Oak trees, it’s also the perfect location for cook-outs and family picnics.

The property’s old homestead, The Red House, serves as a community center. Plans include a piano, games, a Texas-inspired library, and movies for children and adults.
More than 100 acres of land have been set aside for wildlife preservation and community recreation. A trail system that includes a trail along the Frio River, a mountain trail to lookout points with spectacular views, a history trail commemorating the legacy of the land, and a fitness trail with exercise stations is currently being developed.
Garner State Park, which is 10 miles south of Leakey, encompasses 1,420 acres of pristine land on the Frio River. The park offers camping, hiking, nature study, picnic areas, canoeing, fishing and swimming in the Frio River, seasonal miniature golf, biking, and paddleboat and kayak rentals. Garner State Park is famous for its nightly dances, which have been held all summer for the past 50 years.
