For a homeowner currently building a Shiflet Group Architects-designed vacation home in Frio Cañon, the variety of activities available to him and his family, all four seasons of the year, was valuable. The topography of the Texas Hill Country, married with the deep, cool and clear water of the Frio River, create a setting where his children can explore, actively entertaining themselves.
It is another beautiful day in the Texas Hill Country and what could be better than enjoying this sunny weather, a beautiful view of rolling hills AND eating great food? If you're a fan of this combination, then be grateful you live in, near, around or have access to the Texas Hill Country! If you've got some time on your hands this upcoming weekend, I highly suggest making a trip out to see the amazing things Texas has to offer, including lunch and dinner breaks at any of the places we highlight today.
Hello and welcome to the second part of our Get to Know the Hill Country series! Today, we thought it would be great to discuss some of our absolute favorite places to enjoy delicious food. This weekend, Thanksgiving will usher in the beginning of the holiday season. It's the time of over-eating, enjoying the family and parties, parties and more parties! What better place to celebrate the season than out in the Hill Country?
For those of you who love the Hill Country as much as we do, you may enjoy an article a friend of ours sent us this past week. In May of 2001, the Austin Chronicle published a story about the history of the Texas Hill Country and more specifically, the three cayons that make up the Hill Country: the Sabinal Canyon, the Nueces Canyon and the Frio Canyon. While this article is nine years old, it is still a gold-mine of facts about the area's history.
For those of you who love hopping on that bike, feeling the wind in your face and enjoying the incredible views of the Frio Canyon, make sure to check out the Hills and Harleys River Rally, October 22nd- 24th at the House Pasture Cattle Company Area in Concan, Texas. There will be events all day on Saturday. The bike show begins at 11 am, followed by a poker run at noon. Don't forget to check out the tattoo contest at 6 pm and enjoy the live music all day long.
