This month marks the launch of the Casitas, cottage-inspired homes that will be situated throughout the Frio Cañon’s 125-acre wilderness preserve. These homes, which start at $350,000, will enjoy the full amenities of the Frio Cañon community. These amenities, to name a few, include the deep-water Homestead park on the Frio River, activities ranging from kayaking to flyfishing, and the services of a full-time property management team.

The cottage-inspired designs of the Frio Cañon Casitas were created to complement one another and the surrounding landscape. Arrangements of up to three structures on each home site offer a variety of configurations for entertaining and relaxing. Porches and landscaped areas with native plantings provide places to sit and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding hills and nearby river.

Charles Travis of Austin-based architecture firm Chas Architects has created several designs including The Homestead, a 1,500-square-foot, two- story home with two bedrooms, two and half baths, a full kitchen, dining and living room areas, and a large back porch; The Bunkhouse, a 600-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bath cottage intended for younger members of a family; and the Guest and Master Cabañas, which are private one-bedroom suites.
